Preview: New Look Wireless Festival 2015
After Drake’s triumphant start to Wireless last weekend, and this weekend looking to be scorching hot, it’s time to pack the sunscreen and head down to London’s Finsbury Park for a whole weekend of New Look Wireless Festival 2015.
Pop Blogmaster, Talia Kraines, shares her top sets to check out across the weekend…
Day one – Friday 3 July
Drake
Not to point out the obvious, but if you’re going to Wireless this weekend, Drake is a MUST. He smashed his headline set last weekend, and heavily hinted that he’d be coming to London again with some special guests in tow. With Nicki Minaj on Sunday’s Wireless bill, is there any chance he can convince her into town early for a special performance of Truffle Butter?

Fuse ODG
If there was one act that is perfectly suited to the weather, Ghanian Londoner Fuse ODG is your man. His afrobeat-pop fusion secured him five huge hits over the last couple of years, and we for one can’t wait to dance to T.I.N.A and Azonto in the sunshine!
Melissa Steel
Bradford’s Melissa Steel jumped into the charts last year not only with her very own top ten single, Kisses For Breakfast, but also as the voice on dance duo Blonde’s incredible I Loved You more. She’s still pretty new on the scene, but we expect big things from this girl very soon.
Day two – Saturday 4 July
Avicii
One of the biggest DJs on the planet, Avicii knows how to put on a show and he’s appearing at Wireless fresh from shows in Vegas and Ibiza. Expect an incredible live show and so many sing-along hits that you don’t even realise are his. Glowsticks in the air please, London!
Mary J. Blige
If you’ve ever seen Mary live, you’ll know that her show is filled with emotion. It will destroy you, and empower you all at the same time. If you’ve not seen her, this is your must do artist of the day. Although her latest album, The London Sessions, has seen Mary bringing her sound up to date thanks to the likes of Disclosure and Sam Smith, her performance of No More Drama will be up there with the best things you’ve ever seen performed live.
Tinashe
And from the Queen to a princess of R&B. 21-year-old Tinashe has quietly become one of the coolest new pop stars out there. Having worked with the likes of DJ Mustard, Stargate and A$AP Rocky on her debut album, Aquarius, she’s secured specialist radio play with slick singles 2 On and All Hands On Deck, but is surely on the brink of a major breakthrough.
Day three – Sunday 5 July
Nicki Minaj
Expect a blast of tropical colours when Nicki Minaj takes to the Wireless main stage on Sunday. If we can predict one thing, it’s that this show is not going to be subtle. Plus if she doesn’t pop up during Drake’s show on Friday, can we expect Drizzy to appear during Nicki’s on Sunday?
Tove Styrke
The second poster called Tove to try and make it this year, Tove Styrke hasn’t quite had the public recognition she deserves. If you’ve time to check out her latest album, Kiddo, before this show, you’ll find a gorgeous collection of quirky, catchy pop. Yet another Swede to claim the Best Songwriters in Pop trophy. Again. Essential.
Tori Kelly
We know her best for appearing on Professor Green’s 2014 single Lullaby, but Tori Kelly is the next big US pop star waiting to happen. Managed by Scooter Braun – the man behind Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen, Tori has just finished her debut album with the likes of super producer Max Martin and our very own Ed Sheeran. Go see her and say you were there first!
