The Hadestown West End live film starring the original Broadway cast is heading to UK cinemas
Eva Noblezada, Reeve Carney and André De Shields star in the London-recorded Hadestown film
Hadestown is heading to cinemas across the UK this October in the form of a special live capture of the West End production. Titled Hadestown: The Musical, the film features the original Broadway principal cast, who reunited for a limited London engagement in 2025. The film was recorded across those three performances.
Created by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown reimagines myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of Hades and Persephone, bringing the two together for a wholly original take on what these old stories have to teach us. Blending folk, jazz, blues and New Orleans-inspired sounds, the musical has become one of the defining theatre successes of the past decade. You can read our review of Hadestown here.
Hadestown: The Musical will feature André De Shields as Hermes, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone and Patrick Page as Hades.
Also appearing in the film are Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne and Allie Daniel as the Fates, alongside Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Waylon Jacobs and Christopher Short as the Workers. The production also features swings Lucinda Buckley, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs and Miriam Nyarko.
The wider creative team includes choreographer David Neumann, scenic designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Michael Krass and lighting designer Bradley King.
The live capture was directed by Brett Sullivan of Steam Motion and Sound and marks the first collaboration in a planned series of Broadway live-film projects from producers Crosswalk and LD.
North American cinema screenings begin on 24 July 2026, with UK audiences able to experience the production from October. The cinematic release is set to arrive just months before Hadestown embarks on its first-ever UK and Ireland tour, giving a wider audience than ever the chance to experience this moving reflection on love, fate and the power of the people.
