Hadestown announces new West End cast members joining the production this September

Anaïs Mitchell’s award-winning Hadestown welcomes new cast members this autumn, with the names of those joining the production recently announced. New to the cast as of 15 September is Olivier Award winner Danielle de Niese (Rise and Fall of The City of Mahagonny) as Persephone, alongside The Wanted‘s Nathan Sykes as Orpheus. Also announced are Shaun Dooley (Hills of California) as Hades, Fayth Ifil (Just For One Day) as Eurydice, Malinda Parris (Hercules) as Hermes.

They join Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae as the Fates, Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Seet as the Workers, and Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and Milly Willows as Swings.

Hadestown is the collision of two well-known Greek myths, telling the story of Orpheus and Eurydice alongside that of King Hades and his wide Persephone. Winning the Tony Award for Best Musical when it first came to Broadway, the show brings something entirely unique to the West End, blending folk, pop, blues, jazz and Americana, shot through with a distinctly New Orleans flavour.

Directed by Rachel Chavkin, the show features choreography from David Neumann, costume design from Michael Krass, lighting design from Bradley King, sound design from Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, musical supervision and vocal arrangements from Liam Robinson, and arrangements and orchestrations from Michael Corney and Todd Sickafoose.
