UFC has announced that they’ll be returning to London on the 17 March 2018. The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event first arrived in the city back in July 2002, hosting UFC 65. Since then, London has hosted eight more events, welcoming over 120,000 fans to the UFC Octagon.
In its history, the city has hosted the likes of Carlos Condit’s knockout fight against Dan Hardy in October 2010, as well as Michael Bisping’s defeat of Anderson “The Spider” Silva in February 2016. Most recently fighter Brad “One Punch” Pickett retired from the sport watched by an energetic home crowd.
Fans continue to sell out each London night in record time, with the most recent trip to the UK selling out in just 27 minutes.
“London is always a landmark event for UFC; the fights, fans and city itself always deliver.,” says UFC Senior Vice President David Shaw. “To see how the organisation has grown from the first event at The Albert Hall in 2002 is incredible. Our dedicated fans have helped us grow the sport in the UK to where it is today and we are delighted to bring our 10th event to London. 2018 will be an exciting year for UFC in EMEA and we will certainly be kicking things off in style in March.”
