Iconic Irish author Roddy Doyle will be touring across the UK and Ireland in 2020, taking Conversations with Roddy Doyle on the road.

Sitting down with a selection of special guest interviewers, Doyle will delve into his influential career across ten dates.

The shows will kick off in Manchester on Sunday 8 March 2020, and run through to Belfast on 4 June 2020, taking in towns and cities in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The shows will see Roddy Doyle discuss his novels, plays and screenplays, including reading from such books as The Woman Who Walked Into Doors, Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha, and A Star Called Henry.

Doyle boasts eleven novels to his name, alongside two collections of stories, a memoir of his parents, a further eight children’s books, plus a number of plays and screenplays.

He has also translated an opera, co-wrote The Second Half with Roy Keane, has won the Booker Prize, the Irish PEN Award, and a BAFTA Award for 1991’s The Commitments.

His most recent work includes the screenplay for Rosie, a depiction of Ireland’s homelessness crisis, and his forthcoming novel Love.

“Over the years, what I’ve always enjoyed most about book events is the conversation, and the unpredictability of the questions,” he says of the shows. “I recently saw a list of the work I’ve produced in the thirty-three years since The Commitments was published. It’s a long list; there’ll be plenty to talk about.”
