The Hunger Games: On Stage reveals its new cast for year two
A new Katniss, Peeta and Gale head for Panem as The Hunger Games refreshes its London cast
A fresh group of tributes has b for Panem. The Hunger Games: On Stage has announced a new company from Friday 23 October 2026, with Elizabeth Anderson taking over as Katniss Everdeen as Suzanne Collins’ story enters its second year at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre.
Anderson will be joined by Vinnie Copeland as Peeta Mellark, Nathan Stokes as Gale Hawthorne, Daisy Statham as Prim, Alix Dunmore as Mrs Everdeen, Isabel Della-Porta as Effie Trinket and Theo Ogundipe as Cinna. EastEnders’ Neil McDermott steps in as Haymitch Abernathy; Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank takes the Capitol spotlight as Caesar Flickerman, with Oscar-nominated John Malkovich continuing as President Snow on screen.
Aiya Agustin returns as Rue alongside Geo Bailey, Alexandra Barredo, Jessica Daugirda and Luca Moscardini. Among the newcomers, Jason Battersby plays Cato, Myla Carmen plays Clove, Montel Morrison plays Thresh and Jhanaica van Mook plays Glimmer, with Xanthe Gibson joining as an offstage swing and alternate Katniss.
The venue remains a sizeable part of the spectacle. Built specifically for the production, the 1,200-seat theatre wraps audiences around Miriam Buether’s arena design (named “a marvel” in our review). Conor McPherson adapted Collins’ first novel and its film counterpart, with Matthew Dunster directing a production loaded with fight choreography, performer flying, illusions, video and shape-shifting staging.
Hunger Games fans have a busy autumn ahead. The book series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and the five released films have taken more than $3.4 billion at the global box office, but upcoming prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping is set to raise the game again from 20 November. Set 24 years before Katniss’ story, the film returns to the Second Quarter Quell – Haymitch Abernathy’s Hunger Games – perfect as a appetiser before seeing the new cast take on the original story at Troubadour Canary Wharf.
