Sophie Ellis-Bextor is bringing the disco to Halifax in summer 2027

The disco-pop queen returns to Piece Hall in July 2027, with Scouting For Girls joining her for an outdoor summer dance-off

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is heading to Halifax for a headline show at The Piece Hall on Friday 2 July 2027, with Scouting For Girls joining her as special guests.

The show marks a return to The Piece Hall for Ellis-Bextor, who previously supported Nile Rodgers & CHIC at the venue. This time she’s taking top billing, bringing 25 years of dancefloor favourites with her – from ‘Take Me Home’ and ‘Get Over You’ to ‘Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)’.

And then there’s ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’. Originally released in 2001, the song found a whole new audience after soundtracking the closing scene of Saltburn, returning to No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart in January 2024 – matching its original peak more than 22 years earlier.

Of course, anyone who spent lockdown watching Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco performances already knows her commitment to a good party. Her 2025 album Perimenopop continued the celebrations with tracks including ‘Freedom of the Night’ and ‘Relentless Love’, while 2026 saw her mark the 25th anniversary of debut album Read My Lips with a special vinyl edition.

Joining her in Halifax, Scouting For Girls have plenty of singalong ammunition of their own. The band behind ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Heartbeat’ and the chart-topping ‘This Ain’t a Love Song’ released their latest album, These Are The Good Days, in March 2026. As frontman Roy Stride explained in our Stage Times interview, getting the crowd involved has always been central to their live shows.

Originally opened in 1779 as a Georgian cloth hall, The Piece Hall now hosts some of the UK’s biggest outdoor concerts in its 66,000 sq ft courtyard. Its 2027 programme also features Kraftwerk, Rick Astley, Bananarama and more.
