Oh, Mary! announces Lolly Adefope as latest star
The Ghosts actress will join the Oh, Mary! cast as Mary Todd Lincoln this autumn
Oh, Mary!has announced the newest name taking on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola’s irreverent smash-hit comedy at the Trafalgar Theatre. From 28 September, BAFTA nominee Lolly Adefope will star in the show for a 10-week season until 5 December. Best known for playing Kitty in BBC comedy Ghosts, which earned her a National Comedy Award nomination, and for playing Fran in Hulu series Shrill, Adefope marks her West End debut with this takeover.
As previously announced, the Olivier-winning play will star show creator Cole Escola from 20 July to 15 August, before Jinkx Monsoon takes over the role from 17 August to 26 September.
Full casting for Adefope’s 10-week run has yet to be announced. You can find more Oh, Mary! casting information here.
The show also recently completed a filmed performance, with Escola starring alongside Giles Terera as Mary’s Husband, Michael Urie as Mary’s Teacher and original cast members Biance Leigh as Mary’s Chaperone and Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant.
Written by Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! imagines the final weeks of Mary Todd Lincoln before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination with little interest in historical accuracy and a lot of laugh-out-loud outrageousness. The play premiered off-Broadway in January 2024 before transferring to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre
The play premiered off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in January 2024 before transferring to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre later that year. It made its West End premiere at the Trafalgar Theatre in December 2025, winning Best Entertainment or Comedy Play at the 2026 Olivier Awards.
Oh, Mary! is now booking at the Trafalgar Theatre until 2 January 2027 – find your tickets here
