Dave Grohl joins Beck on stage at intimate charity show

The duo performed Seals & Croft’s ‘Summer Breeze' at Judd Apatow-organised benefit concert

Dave Grohl joined old friend Beck for an acoustic performance in Los Angeles last night. The concert, at the small music and comedy club Largo at the Coronet, was organised by film director and producer Judd Apatow in support of Victims First, which supports victims and survivors of mass casualty crimes.

According to Variety, Grohl helped sing the famous guitar hook on Seal and Crofts’ yacht-rock hit ‘Summer Breeze’, which Beck covered along with tracks such as ‘Cyanide Breathmint’ and ‘Debra’.

The night also included performances from comedians Sarah Silverman and Pete Holmes, while Tenacious D’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass, actor John C. Reilly and producer Greg Kurstin also joined Beck on stage. The evening was part of a series of benefit shows organised by Apatow at the 280-capacity venue.

This was one of Grohl’s first public performances following the untimely death of his friend and bandmate Taylor Hawkins in March. He’d also performed with Paul McCartney during the latter’s Saturday evening Glastonbury performance.

Grohl will be performing at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley on Saturday 3 September, joined by the likes of Supergrass, Josh Homme, Brian May and Liam Gallagher.
