Big Thief have opened up their soundchecks to school groups for outings that are a cut above your usual trip to a cave or a box factory. Ahead of their upcoming 2023 US tour, the acclaimed indie folk quartet announced on social media that they were inviting teachers to bring along their classes to soundcheck to meet the band and ask questions about touring, songwriting and performing.
Dearest educators and students💥Big Thief is looking to bring an educational component to the touring process by offering open invitations for teachers to bring their students to our soundchecks on the upcoming 2023 US tour. Reach out to us at bigthiefsoundcheck at gmail pic.twitter.com/z4eMWNca4n

The band, fronted by singer/songwriter Adrienne Lenker, said they were looking to bring: “an educational component to the touring process” and that they hoped students would be “able to come see the soundcheck and ask questions and share in a discussion about creativity, music, playing shows, songwriting, or whatever!” Teachers can email the band directly to arrange the visits, which should hopefully result in swarms of new teenage indie folk bands.
Big Thief kick off their tour later this month in Vermont in support of their critically adored 2022 album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, which was a Discover album of the week back in February. The band will then head to the UK in April.
