Some of the biggest and most influential artists from Greater Manchester will join forces to tackle homelessness and raise money for A Bed Every Night at the newly announced Raise The Roof event, coming to the O2 Victoria Warehouse Manchester on Friday 24 May 2019.
The event will be headlined by the Courteeners who have dominated both their local and nationwide scene since the release of 2008 iconic St. Jude. They’ll be joined on the night by Stockport five-piece Blossoms, grime artist Bugzy Malone, pop legend Lisa Stansfield, punk-poet Dr. John Cooper Clarke and Radio X presenter and DJ Sunta Templeton.
The evening also promises more surprise guests from the world of sport, TV and comedy.
Access will be available by public ballot, with fans being asked to make a £10 donation to the Great Manchester Mayor’s charity, raising money for the A Bed Every Night scheme.
To enter the ballot, and to make a £10 donation, fans should text the word RAISE to 84988 before midday on Friday 3 May 2019. Note this is a strictly 16+ event, and anybody aged 16 or 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
1,600 fans will each receive a pair of tickets, and will be contacted from Monday 6 May 2019.
“Rough sleeping on the streets of Greater Manchester is a crisis all of us need to confront and by joining forces we can really make a difference,” says Courteeners lead singer Liam Fray of the A Bed Every Night scheme.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester adds of the event: “I am immensely grateful to all the performers taking part and proud of the stand our city is taking on the homelessness crisis. If we all work together, we can end the need for rough-sleeping here and send out a message of hope in these dark times.”
