All Points East announce All Points Equal free event
Monday 28 May will celebrate 100 years since women's suffrage.
All Points East, a services of live events and a festival running across the end of May and early June, have announced All Points Equal; a free entry event celebrating 100 years since (some) women secured voting rights in the UK.
All Points Equal will kick off APE In The Neighbourhood, the weekday programme of free events nestled between the three day festival and a weekend of standalone gigs.
The bank holiday Monday will host a series of screenings, talks and presentations in London’s Victoria Park, the end location of Sylvia Pankhurst’s 1913 and 1914 processions.
Screenings of films Suffragette and Made In Dagenham will take place in the park, as will a midday showing of family favourite Moana.
The screening of Suffragette will launch with a fully immersive rally, in partnership with the Museum of London.
The early evening will host a free live panel and Q&A with Dr Helen Pankhurst, women’s rights activist, great-granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst and granddaughter of Sylvia Pankhurst. She’ll be joined by fellow activists and leading voices Elizabeth Crawford, Suzanne Keyte, and Sarah Jackson.
All Points Equal will also host a line-up of music from Holy Moly & The Crackers, Hackney Colliery Band, Break Out Brass and 47Soul, plus more to be announced.
Other activities include free protest poster workshops, children’s banner making with Stitches In Time, street food, pop up bars, yoga, children’s theatre and football workshops.
All Points Equal forms part of the ten day All Points East event, which launches on 25 May 2018 with a brand new three day festival headlined by LCD Soundsystem, The xx and Bjork.
