Gorillaz debut new collaboration with Tame Impala at All Points East festival

Damon Albarn debuted the new song at the London festival over the weekend

Gorillaz delighted fans at London’s All Points East this weekend by debuting a new song in collaboration with Tame Impala and Bootie Brown.

The band were headlining the festival in Victoria Park and were joined by many special guests throughout their set including De La Soul, Popcaan and Mos Def.

Introducing a new song, Gorillaz described the track, titled ‘New Gold’, as “Kind of a mad song,” before bringing fellow festival headliner Tame Impala and Bootie Brown on stage for the performance.

After the performance, the band announced ‘New Gold’ was available to pre-save on their official website, signaling that the track would be officially released soon.

A collaboration between Gorillaz and Tame Impala has long been hinted at, so longtime fans were delighted to finally hear the results.

Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn noted the set at All Points East felt especially important to him as he said it was the “most local” gig he ever played in his life. “I was born here,” he told the crowd. “It is special for me for that reason alone.”

All Points East continues this week with Tame Impala headlining the London festival on Thursday, August 25. Get your tickets here.
