One week until Bloodstock Festival 2015: five bands not to miss
This time next week, the Catton Park gates will be flung open and Bloodstock Festival 2015 revellers will be pouring in, pitching up and pulling on their mosh socks.
To entertain our excitement and, well, kick-start our packing playlist, we’ve picked out five sets we’re most excited to see across the weekend.
1. Delain
The Dutch five-piece headline the Sophie Lancaster stage on Friday and it’s set to be an emotional one. Frontwoman, Charlotte Wessels, recently told Metal Hammer: “We have a song called We Are The Others, which is actually about the tragedy of Sophie Lancaster’s death, it makes sense for us to play on that stage.”
2. Orange Goblin
Fusing hard rock, heavy rock and punk rock influences with all things riff-related, London’s Orange Goblin are guaranteed to wake up festival goers with a Sunday stint on the Ronnie James Dio stage.
3.Trivium
Bloodstock marks the first UK festival headline slot for these American metallers so they won’t be doing things by halves. The weekend also coincides with the tenth anniversary of debut album, Ascendancy, which promises to influence the set.
4. Hang The B****rd
With their last record hailed as their most accomplished work to date, this London mob are gearing up to storm the Sophie Lancaster stage in style. Catch them on Friday at Bloodstock.
5. Sabaton
There’s something about Swedish power metal that’s impossible not to get on board with. Sabaton will be lighting up the Ronnie James Dio stage ahead of Trivium on Friday.
Bloodstock Festival 2015 takes place at Catton Park, Derbyshire between 6 – 9 August, book now at Ticketmaster.co.uk.
