Pop singer and songwriter Mabel has been revealed as the winner of the Ticketmaster Best Newcomer Award at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The awards will be handed out at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Edith Bowman on Friday 5 July at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards raise awareness and funds for Nordoff Robbins, a charity that offers support to vulnerable people through music therapy.

Mabel joins Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, The Chemical Brothers and many more who are set to be honoured come the ceremony in early July.

“I’m so happy to be accepting the Ticketmaster Best Newcomer Award,” Mabel says of the news. “Making music is such a fun but also emotional process, so being able to support a charity who helps others in really tough situations through music holds a special place in my heart.”

Ed Sheeran will be presented with the overall O2 Silver Clef Award.

“I want to thank Nordoff Robbins and 02 for the award,” he says, “this means a lot and I want to applaud Nordoff Robbins for all the wonderful work they do through music therapy.”

Speaking of the awards, Nordoff Robbins Chairman David Munns adds: “The O2 Silver Clef Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding talent of the winning artists who through their music have touched the lives of many thousands of people. This event helps to raise vital funds ensuring that Nordoff Robbins is able to continue delivering music therapy to support vulnerable people across the UK and allows us the opportunity to give something back to the music industry who support us so generously throughout the year.”

Best Newcomer winner Mabel broke onto the scene with Finders Keepers in 2017, and is now gearing up for the release of her debut full-length High Expectations in August 2019.

The record has already spawned hit singles Don’t Call Me Up and the more recent Mad Love.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards take place on Friday 5 July 2019. Find out more about the work the charity undertakes on the official Nordoff Robbins website.
