Boyzone’s Shane Lynch prepares for an evening at the races

Boyzone will enjoy the delights of Sandown Park Racecourse tonight, as they perform as part of the The Jockey Club Live presents an Evening At The Races.

We caught up with Shane Lynch ahead of their set to find out which hits they’ll be bringing with them, and what a Boyzone party entails in 2015.

“This is one of a few open air gigs we’re playing this year,” he said. “People can often misunderstand it if they’re not into horses or betting, but you don’t have to go for that in particular.

“It’s a great day out. Then we come along and play at the end of it all!”

Getting himself in gig mode, Shane told us why these special one-off shows work so well for Boyzone: “You’ve got a crowd of people who’ve been enjoying themselves all day and are ready to party into the night. That’s exactly what it is, a good party!

“We’ve got 20 years of music,” he adds. “I think we generally mix up the genres because of all the Boyzone records that there are.

“We might also do a Motown section and enjoy the feel of what a concert is meant to be about. You sing-along for an hour and a half, it’s pretty awesome!”
