Festival preview: Friday at Wireless Festival 2016

The festival announcements are coming in thick and fast, with Wireless Festival among the major events to unveil the first acts on their summer line-up.

First, we’re turning our attention to Friday, headlined by the mighty Calvin Harris.

In case you missed it, here’s a rundown of who has already been announced for Friday 8 July at Wireless Festival 2016:

Calvin Harris
The 1975
Miguel
Bryson Tiller
Kurupt
Kwabs
Disciples
Vic Mensa
Big Narstie
Anne-Marie
Yungen
Geko
Petite Meller

Scottish DJ and singer-songwriter Calvin Harris has had so many huge hits, it’s easy to forget at least one. Dance Wiv Me (with Dizzee Rascal), I Need Your Love (with Ellie Goulding), We Found Love (with Rihanna), Let’s Go (feat. Ne-Yo) and Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch) are all proof that Calvin isn’t short of superstar collaborators. Which probably mean he’s got even more to prove when performing live. Loyal fans can expect Calvin to bring his A-game, while even casual listeners are guaranteed to be surprised by how many hits they already know. Take 2015’s How Deep Is Your Love as the perfect example…

Literally everyone is talking about The 1975 right now. Fresh from their run of sold out shows at O2 Academy Brixton, the Cheshire alt-rockers are in the prime of their career. Bringing a new helping of indie grooves to Wireless, The 1975 will no doubt attract an even wider audience to the July festival. Plus, we’ve yet to meet anyone who isn’t a fan of this lot’s seductive synths and passionate electro hooks.

The 1975 - The Sound

If Miguel is involved, you know you’re on to a good thing. The American artist will bring his unique blend of hip hop, soul and funk to Wireless this summer. Expect maximum bass and a set that you’ll totally loose yourself in.

We have Big Narstie to thank for the triumphant return of Craig David and, quite frankly, we can’t think of a better way to embrace the grime element of Wireless. That, and you can pretty much guarantee a good party when this guy is involved.

The Wireless stage was made for artists like Kwabs. We can’t wait to see the singer-songwriter bring his smooth RnB sound to Finsbury Park this summer. Expect serious goosebump moments when the crowd sings along to tracks like Cheating On Me.
