The best UK festivals in June 2024

A rundown of the month's unmissable events as the festival season begins in earnest

You can feel it in the air, can’t you? Love Island‘s on the tele, the Euros are just days away and parasols are replacing patio heaters in the pub gardens. Summer is here, and so is festival season.

In the first of our monthly series throughout the summer, we’ve put together some of the best UK festivals June has to offer – whether you’re a raver, a disco queen or a metalhead, we think you’ll be happy.

The Cambridge Club Festival

DANCE. DISCO. DISCOVER. is the mantra of this year’s Cambridge Club, which, since its launch in 2017, has expanded into one of the UK’s most popular disco and pop festivals. Titans of the genre Chaka Khan and Al McKay’s Earth Wind & Fire top this year’s poster, alongside a force of modern pop, Jess Glynne, plus a whole lot of fun from Sister Sledge, Natasha Bedingfield, Soul II Soul and more.

Rockstar Energy presents Parklife

Nothing ushers in summer in Manchester quite like Parklife Festival, which over its two and a half decades has become unrivalled in its pulling power of big names across the spectrum of dance, hip hop, pop and basically anything you can rave to. This year Doja Cat, Becky Hill, Disclosure, J Hus and Kaytranada will likely garner the biggest crowds, but there are plenty of fun acts to discover.

Liquid Death presents Download

After the four-day bonanza of its 20th birthday celebrations last year, it’s business as usual this year as Download festival returns to Donington Park this month. But fear not, those three days will be jam-packed with full-bodied screams, gargantuan riffs and moshing en masse to Queens of the Stone Age, Avenged Sevenfold, Fall Out Boy and Limp Bizkit.

On The Mount At Wasing

Tucked away in a secret enclosure in the woods of Wasing Estate is The Mount, an idyllic open-air amphitheatre that makes for the “lushest of gig settings” according to Rolling Stone. It returns for its second edition for a series of special shows throughout June: Crowded House (17 Jun), Paolo Nutini (18 Jun), Nick Mulvey (20 Jun), Jungle (27 Jun) and Underworld (29 Jun).

The Isle of Wight Festival

One of the UK’s most historic festivals should surely need no introduction by now. As ever, this year there’s a line-up eclectic enough to please the whole family, with familiar anthems from The Prodigy, S Club, Pet Shop Boys and Green Day to be belted out at the main stage, while new kids on the block such as Caity Baser, Noahfinnce and Wunderhorse are waiting to be discovered in the Big Top.

Seaclose Park, Newport, 20 – 23 June | Get tickets here

Daresbury

This one day boutique Cheshire gem is all about the summer vibes, mixing a heady cocktail of euphoric disco, funk, soul and house. This year the disco ball spins above M People’s Heather Small, Craig Charles, Soul II Soul and more; bring enough glitter, sequins and glam to make the roaming peacocks jealous!

Walton Hall and Gardens, Warrington, 22 June \ Get tickets here

Clockstock

No, not a festival for watch and clock enthusiasts, though dance music fans will hope to have the time of their life. This year sees DJs such as Hannah Wants, Mark Knight, Low Steppa and Paul Oakenfield grace the Essex dance music festival’s reportedly last ever edition.

Boyton Hall Farm, Chelmsford, 29 June | Get tickets here

Heartland

A new festival is coming to the green fields of Pitlochry up in Perthshire, and it’s a Scottish affair as it celebrates the best of both established and up-and-coming native acts. The View and Idlewild join Nina Nesbitt, Cammy Barnes, Tide Lines, Skerryvore and more for Heartland’s inaugural edition.
