VIP: Sheffield Arena Club hits all the right notes
We tried a concert VIP experience to see just what we've been missing out on...
Sheffield doesn’t lag behind. Long a stronghold of live entertainment in the North, it’s the home of some of the UK’s most exciting live acts, from Pulp to Def Leppard, Arctic Monkeys to Moloko. You’ve every right to expect a lot of a night out in Steel City and Steel City does not disappoint.
We rolled in with one goal in mind: a big night out with all the bells and whistles. Neither of us had been to Sheffield before so we were determined to do it right first time around. Say hello to the Arena Club Experience at Sheffield Utilita Arena. When the big names descend on Sheffield, this is where they come and we fancied being treated like a couple of big names ourselves.
Two hours on a train from London St Pancras and a short taxi ride from Sheffield City Centre and the Arena rises into view. A bright flash of neon directs us into the Arena Club where we’re met with smiling faces, souvenir lanyards (who doesn’t love a lanyard?) and a range of drinks, from “fizzy pop” to something stronger. It’s a pretty strong start, whatever you choose.
The dining room lies in wait through double doors, embellished with fairy lights. A relaxed, casual affair, even with the crisp white tablecloths. There’s no rushing, no desperately clamouring for the bill so that you don’t miss the first song. Everything’s right next door and timed to perfection, so just kick back and take it all in.
There’s plenty to take in too. Each course, from the support act to the headliner to a crowd-pleasing encore of a chocolate brownie, is note perfect. Liquid refreshments are plentiful and right when it seems like you’ve hit a crescendo, you remember that there’s still a gig to come. Throughout the show, the Club is a stone’s throw away, should your drink or make-up need refreshing.

The Lounge

The Arena Club
The ultimate VIP dream comes to life inside the stunning Arena Club. You’ll be treated to top-tier service, decadent fine dining and seating just moments from the stage. At the dedicated Arena Club entrance, our beaming hospitality team will meet you to provide you with your lanyard and a drink on arrival. You’ll then head to the dining room, complete with crisp white tablecloths and twinkling lights, to enjoy a three-course meal as well as the fully stocked bar and high-end facilities. Once fully satiated, you’ll head to some of the best seats in the house to enjoy the show.
Suites
The perfect way to wow your colleagues, loved ones, clients or friends, each suite comes with a fully stocked bar, a dedicated host, and a private toilet. You’ll take the dedicated suite lift up to the top floor where you’ll be met by a personal host to greet you and offer you a welcome drink and a colourful lanyard. The suites boast plenty of space for you to dance along to the show or network with clients.
