Wicked announces film screenings in concert with full orchestra
The 2024 and 2025 films will be screened with a live concert orchestra playing the score and songs
A live in-concert screening of Wicked and Wicked: For Good has been announced, with a full orchestra set to perform the songs and score of both films.
Jon M Chu’s duology is adapted from the multi-award-winning West End show, currently playing at the Victoria Apollo Theatre, which is turn adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name. The first film, released in 2024, stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, following the two witches from their rocky beginnings at Shiz University through their life-altering friendship, with 2025 sequel Wicked: For Good revealing the truth behind the events of The Wizard Of Oz. Wicked was award two Oscars.
The live concert screening will see an orchestra perform the beloved songs by Stephen Schwartz, as well as the film score by John Powell and Schwartz.
The stage musical features the same songs by Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Opening in London in 2006, it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary later this year.
Further details about the concert experience, including venues and dates, are yet to be announced.
