The Traitors stage play announces West End premiere for summer 2027
The stage adaptation of the BBC game show reveals unique five-show structure as it heads to the Gillian Lynne Theatre
The Traitors is heading to the West End. Written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will make its world premiere at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre in summer 2027, transforming the hit TV Game show into an one-of-a-kind theatrical event.
Rather than presenting a single story, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal comprises five interconnected plays. Each weekday, performances will begin from the same premise before branching into one of five separate narratives. Characters who exit early in one version may survive, thrive or even emerge victorious in another. Each of these weekday performances will showcase one complete story, but audiences returning over multiple shows will learn how different decisions and shifting alliances reshaped events over the larger show cycle.
On Saturdays, The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will take things even further, with audiences helping to determine which character becomes a Traitor. This means that even matinee and evening audiences on the same day may witness completely different outcomes to the story.
Studio Lambert chief executive Stephen Lambert said: “Each of the five plays tells a whole story on its own. But the same evening could have turned out in completely different ways, and anyone who wants to discover how is welcome to come back and find out. On the surface it is a game of paranoia and betrayal. Underneath, it is about who we really are under pressure, and the way our true colours show in the end.”
Neal Street Productions co-founder Caro Newling said: “It’s a true privilege to bring such an innately theatrical concept to the stage together with Studio Lambert and a team of inspired theatre-makers. With a different new play performed each weekday night, and rogue-choice Saturday performances, they’ve together created an endeavour of extraordinary scale, offering audiences a genuine box-set of entertainment from the heart of the Traitors universe.”
The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will begin previews at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 11 May 2027, ahead of an opening night on 8 June.
