The Prince of Egypt extends West End run into 2021

The musical based on the 1998 hit film is now booking until September 2021 at London's Dominion Theatre.

The Prince Of Egypt, the musical based on the classic animated movie, has extended its stay in London’s West End to September 2021.

Showing at London’s Dominion Theatre, the musical is preparing to return from Monday 2 November, booking until Saturday 4 September 2021, pending UK government advice.

First opening earlier this year, The Prince Of Egypt stars Luke Brady, Liam Tamne, Christine Allado and Alexia Khadime. 

Best known for playing Anthony Hope in Jonathan Kent’s production of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Luke Brady stars in the role of Moses.

Liam Tamne, who recently starred as Guiseppe Naccarelli in the South Bank Centre’s The Light in the Piazza plays the role of Ramses.

Playing Tzipporah is Christine Allado, who starred as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the original London cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit Hamilton. 

Alexia Khadime, who has starred in West End musicals such as Wicked, The Lion King, Les Misérables and The Book of Mormon plays the role of Miriam.

Young performers Mia Lakha, Iman Pabani and Hannah Selk share the roles of Young Miriam, Leah and Young Hebrew Girl, and Leo Babet, Jonah Collier and Taylor Jenkins  the roles of Young Aaron, Young Egyptian Boy and Young Midian Boy

Set in Ancient Egypt, the musical tells the tale of two young men who were raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, who suddenly find themselves divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh while the other must rise up and free his people, both facing a destiny that will forever change history.

The production is directed by Scott Schwartz (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and choreographed by Sean Cheesman (So You Think You Can Dance ) with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and book by Phillip LaZebnik (Mulan, Pocahontas).

The musical adaptation features 10 new songs written by Stephen Schwartz, alongside five songs featured in the film including fan favourites, Deliver Us, All I Ever Wanted, Through Heaven’s Eyes and When You Believe. 

The latter Academy Award®-winning song was originally recorded by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey in 1998 for the beloved DreamWorks film. Watch the cast perform the track below:

Released in 1998, the DreamWorks film The Prince Of Egypt captivated audiences upon its release and was universally loved by critics. Starring Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock and Jeff Goldblum amongst others, the film grossed over $200 million worldwide at the box office.
