Meet Disney’s The Lion King star Gugwana Dlamini

Gugwana Dlamini recently returned to the West End after 20 years to play the role of Rafiki in Disney’s The Lion King.

Dlamini has been part of The Lion King since the very start, having appeared on the soundtrack for the original Disney animated film back in 1994.

From there, Gugwana Dlamini has toured across the globe with Disney’s The Lion King musical, now taking her place on the West End stage at London’s Lyceum Theatre.

In the interview above, Gugwana Dlamini speaks of her journey with the film and the musical, taking on the role of Rafiki, and just what makes Disney’s The Lion King so special.

Disney’s The Lion King first opened in the West End 20 years ago, transferring from Broadway in 1999. Running at The Lyceum Theatre, it continues to amaze fans of all ages.
