The Greatest Showman comes to the West End with Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks

The hit musical film comes to the London stage next spring

The stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will open in the West End next spring. Based on the 2017 film about PT Barnum, the stage musical version enjoyed a sold-out run at Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year and will now transfer to Theatre Royal Drury Lane for 2027.

Featuring music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the stage version has a book by Tim Federle and direction and choreography from Casey Nicholaw. Fans can expect to hear all the hit songs from the film, including ‘A Million Dreams’, ‘Rewrite The Stars’, ‘Never Enough’ and Golden Globe-winning anthem ‘This Is Me’, alongside new music written by Pasek and Paul exclusively for the stage.

The show has been confirmed to be arriving at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in late spring 2027, but exact performance dates are yet to be confirmed.

The production is brough to the stage by Disney Theatrical Group, marking the third Disney production at Theatre Royal Drury Lane after Frozen and Hercules. The latter is currently in its final weeks at the theatre.

Lead casting has already been announced for the show. Oliver Tompsett (& Juliet) will star as PT Barnum, with Samantha Barks (Frozen) as Charity Barnum. They are joined by Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle, Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind and Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz. Further casting is still to be announced.

Anne Quart and Andrew Flatt for Disney Theatrical Group said: “The show is born of a collaboration with an incredible group of artists. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul return with the songs audiences will know and love, alongside exhilarating new numbers created especially for the stage; Tim Federle’s book captures a heartfelt love of theatre and show business; and two-time Tony Award-winning Casey Nicholaw directs an extraordinary cast led by the incomparable Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks.”

The creative team includes music supervisor, incidental and dance music arranger and orchestrator Alex Lacamoire, set designer David Korins, costume designers Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Peter Hylenski, video designer George Reeve, circus creator and designer Lorenzo Pisoni, hair and wig designer Josh Marquette, make-up designer Milagros Medina-Cerdeira, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick, illusions designer Skylar Fox, casting director Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting, and children’s casting director and general manager Keston & Keston, with acrobat casting by The 7 Fingers.
