The show will now run from 4 November 2021 and will feature an incredible soundtrack of Drifters’ hits including Save the Last Dance for Me, Stand By Me, Saturday Night at the Movies, Under the Boardwalk and many more.

From releasing influential hit records and touring across the globe, to dealing with legal battles and tragedy, The Drifters Girl follows the world’s first female African American music manager and her husband, who fought for three decades to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group into a global phenomenon.

Singer-songwriter and serial hitmaker Beverley Knight released her debut album, The B-Funk, in 1995 and began her theatre career in The Bodyguard when she took over the role of Rachel Marron (played by Whitney Houston in the original 1992 film) from performer Heather Headley.

She later starred in the West End production of Memphis at the Shaftesbury Theatre and performed as Grizabella in the revival of Cats at the London Palladium, before returning to The Bodyguard in 2016 for a limited six-month run.

Knight released her latest solo album BK25 in November, to celebrate her two and a half decades in music.

This follows on from her eighth studio album Soulville – which came out in 2016 – and her collaborative effort with British singer Cassidy Janson and American actress Amber Riley in the musical theatre supergroup, Leading Ladies. The trio put out their debut album, Songs from the Stage in 2017, which featured covers from Cats, Beautiful, Rent and more.

Beverley will now lead the charge as the lead in The Drifters Girl, coming to London’s Garrick Theatre from 4 November 2021.
