Paddington The Musical soundtrack breaks chart record as it lands at number 1
The new musical at the Savoy Theatre continues to collect accolades following its seven wins at the Olivier Awards
The soundtrack for Paddington The Musical has become the fastest-selling physical West End cast album of the 21st century, as it reaches No.1 on the Official UK Compilation Chart. The achievement arrives less than six months after Paddington The Musical’s opening at London’s Savoy Theatre, where it is now booking through to February 2028.
Released through Decca Records, the album was recorded with the full West End company and orchestra at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. It was at first released digitally in April before being physically released in vinyl, CD, cassette and Yoto formats. The soundtrack features music and lyrics by McFly’s Tom Fletcher and production from musical supervisor Matt Brind.
Since opening at the Savoy Theatre in late 2025, Paddington The Musical has collected seven Olivier Awards including the coveted Best New Musical, nine WhatsOnStage Awards and the Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Musical. Based on Michael Bond’s beloved A Bear Called Paddington and the hugely popular films of the 2010s and 2020s, the musical features a book by Jessica Swale and direction from Luke Sheppard.
Paddington is brought to life by two actors: Arti Shah, who performs Paddington on stage, and James Hameed, who provides Paddington’s voice and facial performance. The two shared the win for Best Actor In A Musical at this year’s Oliviers. The cast also includes Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Millicent Clyde, Amy Ellen Richardson as Mrs Brown, Adrian Der Gregorian as Mr Brown, Delilah Bennett-Cardy as Judy Brown, Bonnie Langford as Mrs Bird, Teddy Kempner as Mr Gruber, Tom Edden as Mr Curry, Brenda Edwards as Tanya, Timi Akinyosade as Tony, Amy Booth-Steel as Lady Sloane and Tarinn Callender as Grant. The role of Jonathan Brown is shared by Joseph Bramley, Leo Collon, Stevie Hare and Jasper Rowse.
The ensemble features Esme Bacalla-Hayes, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, David Birch, Aimée Fisher, Jacqueline Hughes, Kellianna Jay, Sam Lathwood, Natasha Leaver, Katie Lee, Sunny Lee, Vicki Lee Taylor, Jáiden Lodge, Andilé Mabhena, Rose Mary O’Reilly, Ben Redfern, Hugo Rolland and Simon Shorten.
