Nine Night transfers to Trafalgar Studios
An incredibly moving and hilarious tale of food, family, music and mourning is moving to the West End this December
Nine Night is on the move, transferring to Trafalgar Studios in the West End after a sold-out run at Southbank’s National Theatre earlier this year.
From 1 December 2018 until 9 February 2019, Natasha Gordon’s touching debut play will set up home in the iconic West End venue – with casting to be announced.
Directed by Roy Alexander Weise, the play follows the poignant tale of Gloria, a gravely sick woman and her family. When her time comes, Gloria’s children and grandchildren must hold a traditional Jamaican Nine Night Wake – a celebration to mark her death, as the story weaves between grief, humour and mourning.
Through family, food, music and the endless parade of mourners, the group share stories across nine nights, which in turn test each character and reveal the intense, moving and sometimes humourous realities of loss.
