McFly’s Harry Judd to star in the London transfer of High School Musical this autumn
High School Musical will transfer to the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre for a limited season this October
High School Musical has announced a London transfer to the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre this October, with McFly member Harry Judd joining the cast. Judd will star as Coach Bolton, father of teen basketball star and secret singer Troy.
Harry said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining this incredible new production of High School Musical. It’s such an iconic film that meant so much to me growing up and now getting to share that same excitement with my own family— makes this even more special. As a dad, it’s been amazing to revisit this story through my children’s eyes and see just how timeless it really is—the music, the energy, the message about believing in yourself—it all still resonates so strongly across generations. Stepping into the role of Coach Bolton and leading such a first-class cast in London at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is something I’m incredibly proud of. I can’t wait to ‘Get My Head in the Game’ and bring this story to life on stage—sharing all the energy, heart and nostalgia of High School Musical with fans old and new.”
High School Musical first came to London in 2008, playing at the Hammersmith Apollo Theatre. This highly anticipated new production, co-directed by Joseph Houston & William Whelton, will be the first UK non-replica production of the show.
Several cast members will continue in their roles for the London transfer, including Tobius Turley as Troy, Leonor Connor as Gabriella, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay and Luke Bayer as Ryan.
Judd isn’t the only notable name in the cast, as Disney star KayCee Stroh was recently announced for the role of Ms Darbus. Stroh will be best known to High School Musical fans as Martha Cox in the original films.
Of her casting, Stroh said, “From originating Martha Cox to now stepping into the equally iconic role of Ms Darbus, it’s both an honour and a joy to be part of the story in a whole new way. Performing in the UK has long been a dream of mine, and to do so with a story that holds such deep meaning makes it even more special. Ultimately, I chose to take on this role for the fans, whose unwavering support, love, and shared nostalgia have made High School Musical so special!”
The production is currently scheduled to play at the Lyric Theatre at the Lowry in Salford from 22 August 2026 to 19 September 2026.
It will then arrive at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre on 12 October 2026 where it will run until 3 January 2027. Further casting is yet to be announced.
