Cast announced for Guys and Dolls at Royal Albert Hall

Lara Pulver and Stephen Mangan join the star-studded performance.

Lara Pulver, Stephen Mangan, Sharon D Clarke and Paul Nicholas will join the cast of Guys and Dolls at the Royal Albert Hall this October.

The iconic venue will play host to classic musical this autumn with an incredible cast that already includes Adrian Lester, Jason Manford and Meow Meow.

Accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, this semi-staged production will be directed and choreographed by the award-winning Stephen Mear. Music direction comes from James McKeon with design by Morgan Lange.

 

Pulver will take on the role of Sarah Brown, having recently took home the coveted Olivier Award for her turn in Gypsy, and is also known for TV shows Sherlock and Spooks. Stephen Mangan, who most recently took to the West End for Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party, joins Guys and Dolls as the narrator.

The latest announcement also includes Sharon D. Clarke, star of Caroline, or Change, as General Cartwright, and Paul Nicholas as Arvide Abernathy.

Further casting includes Clive Rowe – who will reprise his Olivier Award-winning role of Nicely Nicely Johnson – and musician Joe Stilgoe, who stars as Benny Southstreet.

Guys and Dolls tells the story of gambling man Nathan Detroit (Manford) who is striving to find a new location for his nightly craps game. Needing a £1,000 to cover the costs, he bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson (Lester) that he cannot get the virtuous Sarah Brown to go out on the date with him – thing are complicated further by the fact that Nathan’s long-time fiancée Miss Adelaide (Meow Meow) is desperate to marry him, putting pressure on him to quit gambling for good and make an honest woman of her.

The classic show features such iconic songs as A Bushel and a Peck, If I Were a Bell, Luck Be a Lady and the show-stopping Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat.
