Full cast announced for Groan Ups’ West End run
Mischief Theatre return to London with a brand new show this September.
The creators of The Play That Goes Wrong and The Comedy About A Bank Robbery will take over the Vaudeville Theatre from September with their new show, Groan Ups.
The brand new comedy is all about growing up and looks at whether we’re the same people at 30 as were at 13; whether school life determines our future and if we ever grow out of our school crush.
This is the Mischief company’s first new play since 2016 and is guaranteed to be full of the usual gut-busting hilarity that their shows have become world famous for. Following an unruly classroom of kids and anarchic high school teenagers through the aches and pains of adulthood, fans can expect a lesson not to be skipped.
Groan Ups will form part of the Mischief Season at the Vaudeville, with two further productions in Mischief’s residency still to be announced. The year-long residency at the Vaudeville will run alongside the Mischief company’s other West End successes, 2012’s The Play That Goes Wrong, which continues to run at the Duchess Theatre and The Comedy About A Bank Robbery which runs at the Criterion Theatre.
Other previous productions include their pantomime-inspired Peter Pan Goes Wrong, which was also adapted into a one-hour television special in 2016, and was followed by another televised special a year later entitled A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong.
Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields and directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward, the production will star Bryony Corridan as Chemise and Miss Murray, Dave Hearn as Paul, Henry Lewis as Spencer, Charlie Russell as Katie, Jonathan Sayer as Simon, Henry Sheilds as Archie, and Nancy Zamit as Moon. The cast is completed by George Haynes, Krystal Dockery and Holly Sumpton.
Performances of Groan Ups begin on 20 September 2019 at the Vaudeville Theatre.
