Caitlin Moran is among the new star-readers to be added to Letters Live 2015, joining Benedict Cumberbatch and Louise Brealey in their leading roles.
Five unique shows will take place at London’s Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden, between 31 March – 4 April, with this season’s events building on the huge success of 2013 and 2014.
As well as Moran, confirmed guests now include Joss Ackland, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Matt Berry, Samantha Bond, Russell Brand, Simon Callow, Olivia Colman, Joanne Froggatt, Sally Hawkins, Richard Holloway and Toby Jones.
Plus Allen Leech, Tom Odell, Andrew O’Hagan, Sophie Okenedo, B.J. Novak, Clarke Peters, Jonathan Ross, Andrew Scott, Juliet Stevenson, Tom Sturridge, Dominic West, Ashley Walters and many more to be announced.
Letters Live 2015 will see celebrity speakers read correspondence deserving of a wider audience in front of a live crowd.
The independent publishing house Canongate has developed the event to celebrate the art and ethos of letter writing.
Cumberbatch had us all teary-eyed last week, when a video of him reading Alan Turing’s letter to Norman Routledge was posted to YouTube.
Now, Louise Brealey has us feeling much the same as she reads Bessie Moore’s love letter, dating back to 1945, to Chris Barker; her former work colleague and serving signalman in the Second World War.
Letters Live 2015 takes place at London’s Freemason’s Hall between 31 March – 4 April, and will raise money for literacy charities, the Reading Agency, First story and Ministry of Stories.
