Brian Cox sets world record for science tour

Physicist Brian Cox has broken a world record, receiving an official certificate for the most tickets sold for a science tour.

Running since the 21 September 2016, Brian Cox has sold 75,193 tickets for his Professor Brian Cox Live tour.

Cox will receive his official certificate this afternoon during a sold out show at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith in London.

“It’s immensely gratifying to see so many people of all ages interested in fundamental questions about the Universe and our place within it,” he says of the tour and the award. “These questions may appear esoteric and disconnected from our lives, but this is to undervalue the perspective that astronomy and cosmology can bring.

“The Earth is a tiny, fragile spec in the darkness, and yet incalculably valuable because of its temporary occupation by an unlikely civilization that has found a way to explore the origin of the Universe. The challenges we face in the 21st century are global, and require global solutions. We are citizens of the world, whether we like it or not, and this is obvious when we raise our gaze beyond the horizon and outwards to the stars.”

Well done, Brian!

Brian Cox recently extended his tour into May 2017. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
