Beetlejuice The Musical announces casting for lead actor
Casting for the titular ghoul has been announced ahead of Beetlejuice’s West End debut at the Prince Edward Theatre
Beetlejuice The Musical makes its West End debut at the Prince Edward Theatre this May, and the first casting details have been dropped. Helming the production as the dastardly Beetlejuice will be David Fynn, whose theatre credits include originating the role of Dewy Finn in School of Rock in the West End, a performance that earned him an Olivier nomination.
Fynn’s other credits include playing Tony Lumpkin in She Stoops To Conquer at the National Theatre, Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing at the National Theatre, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Donmar Warehouse.
Beetlejuice The Musical comes to the Prince Edward Theatre on Wednesday 20 May 2026, currently booking until Saturday 17 April 2027. Based on the 1988 Tim Burton film, it follows teenager Lydia and her interactions with the ghosts who haunt her home, as she attempts to make her father and his new girlfriend take notice of her. Further casting for the musical has yet to be announced.
The show features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. The show’s West End debut will be directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Connor Gallagher. Casting is by Harry Blumenau.
Fynn said, “It’s a show I’ve admired for a long time – bold, funny, and totally chaotic. Getting the chance to step into such an iconic role is both a huge honour and a slightly surreal experience. I’m looking forward to bringing my own take to it while staying true to what makes the character so much fun. Plus, I do look good in stripes, and I am a little dead inside.”
