Improvised comedy play Austentatious will tour the UK in the autumn, featuring a cast of the country’s quickest comedy performers.

Each night, the cast will deliver a brand new “lost” Jane Austen novel based on a title suggested by an audience member.

The funny show celebrates six sellout runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as a residency in London’s West End and a BBC Radio 4 special to mark the bicentenary of Austen’s death.

Deemed “ridiculous silly” and “wickedly funny” by The Times, and “a joy to behold” by The Guardian, Austentatious will be performed at a number of theatres across the country later this year.

The show has produced such “classics” as Sixth Sense & Sensibility, Double O Darcy, Mansfield Shark and other “lost” Austen masterpieces.

Performed by between five and six of the eight strong cast, Austentatious will kick off the tour in Brighton on the 23 September 2018, and run until the 2 November 2018 at Birmingham’s The Rep.

“We are thrilled to be travelling the length and breadth of the country, rediscovering the lost classics Austen wrote and promptly forgot about,” they announce. “We love and admire Jane’s works and the public deserve an intimate acquaintance with them, particularly the very prescient ones about Donald Trump.”
