Based on the much loved, five-time Oscar-nominated film of the same name, the musical adaptation of Amelie has been wowing audiences on a current UK tour following a sell-out season premiere at Newbury’s Watermill Theatre in April.

Now the hit show will transfer to the West End this Christmas, arriving at The Other Palace from 29 November 2019 – 1 February 2020 and we have a presale.

Starring French-Canadian stage and screen star Audrey Brisson in the title role, the West End run will see the full original Watermill cast arrive in London.

Telling the story of an imaginative and shy romantic with a gift for helping others, Amelie the Musical is a vibrant re-conception from the original Broadway production, featuring new orchestrations with music by Hem’s Daniel Messé, lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Daniel Messé and a book by Craig Lucas. The show features tracks including Times Are Hard for Dreamers and Stay.

Audrey Brisson’s theatre credits include The Elephantom, Pinocchio and Pericles, Midnight’s Pumpkin and The Wild Bride, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Dead Dog in a Suitcase & Other Love Songs, Romeo and Juliet, The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk, The Grinning Man and The Strada.

The full cast includes Sophie Crawford as Gina, Faoileann Cunningham as Georgette/Sylvie, Rachel Dawson as Andamine/Philomene, Oliver Grant as Lucien/Mysterious Man, Chris Jared as Nino Quincampoix, Caolan McCarthy as Hippolito/Elton John, Samuel Morgan-Grahame as Joseph/Fluffy, Emma Jane Morgan as Delphine, Kate Robson-Stuart as Suzanne, Josh Sneesby as Blind Beggar, Jez Unwin as Raphael/Bretodeau and Johnson Willis as Collignon/Dufayel.

The original film, Le Fabuleux Destin D’Amélie Poulain, was released in 2001, starring Audrey Tautou and Matthieu Kassovitz. Taking over $33 million in a limited theatrical release, it is to date the highest-grossing French-language film released in the United States, and one of the biggest international successes for a French film.

Amélie won Best Film at the European Film Awards, four César Awards in 2002 (including Best Film and Best Director), two BAFTA Awards (including Best Original Screenplay), and was nominated for five Academy Awards, including best foreign language film.

Amelie the Musical continues its UK tour now and arrived in the West End from 29 November 2019.
