Amber Riley will be temporarily replaced by Marisha Wallace as the Dreamgirls lead.
Broadway star Marisha Wallace will be taking on the role of Effie White, alongside alternate Karen Mav, while Amber Riley recovers from pneumonia.
The production posted an official statement on Twitter, noting that Riley is in the final stages of recovery and expected to return “in the next few days”.
Wallace is now sharing duties with Mav, having appeared in Broadway productions of Something Rotten, Aladdin and The Book Of Mormon. Both have received a rave reception over the holiday period whilst Riley and further cast members have been recovering.
