With 10 European Cups between them, Manchester United and AC Milan are two of the most successful clubs in world football. The teams have met on 10 occasions since 1958 with both sides claiming five victories each. The most recent competitive fixture between the clubs was in 2010, with United legend Wayne Rooney scoring twice as the Red Devils beat AC Milan 4-0 at Old Trafford.

Last summer the teams faced off in Los Angeles, with United coming out on top after winning a dramatic penalty shootout.

The International Champions Cup will see a total of 12 of the football’s biggest clubs compete against each other in world-class stadiums across the United States, Europe and Asia this summer. Each team will play three matches and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will take home the International Champions Cup trophy.

A win in 90 minutes will result in three points, whilst a draw will go to a penalty shootout. If a team wins on penalties they will receive two points and the losing team will receive one.

The full list of teams competing in this year’s tournament are AS Roma, Chivas de Guadalajara, Arsenal, FC Bayern München, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Athletico Madrid, Benfica and AC Milan.

Manchester United against AC Milan will be the first and only International Champions Cup match played in Wales this summer. The match will be held at the Principality Stadium, which hosted the Champions League final in 2017.

The game will mark the first time Manchester United will have played at the famous stadium, since their 4-0 League Cup final triumph against Wigan Athletic in 2006.
