Great British Spin Off’s Blofeld announces retirement
Henry Blofeld retires from cricket commentary after almost 50 years.
With Graeme Swann’s Great British Spin Off set to bowl over audiences from late September 2017, his on-stage partner in crime Henry Blofeld has announced his retirement from cricket commentating after almost 50 years.
Blofeld, affectionally known as Blowers, recently revealed his plans to step down from the BBC’s Test Match Special.
Speaking of his retirement, Blofeld said in an often humorous personal statement: “Listeners will now be relieved to know that their chances of being told the right name of the fielders at third man and fine leg have greatly increased.”
He will take to the commentary desk for the final time when England host West Indies on 7 September.
