The countdown is on – there’s only 50 days until the opening of the biggest multi-sport event in Scotland, Glasgow 2018. It’s the biggest sporting event to arrive in Glasgow since the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

The European Championships will take place for the very first time in Glasgow over 11 action-packed days, from 2 – 12 August 2018, and will bring together over 3,000 of Europe’s best athletes in a fierce competition, with the goal to be crowned the all-important European Champion.

Across the 11 days, Scotland will welcome leading athletes to the city giving fans a chance to see multiple venues across Scotland be turned into giant sporting arenas, and hopefully witness some record-breaking events too.

With 52 nations battling it out across an array of sporting disciplines – aquatics, cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon – this is set to be an exhilarating event to watch history in the making.

The all-important medals are what every athlete wants to step on the podium with and take home, and their design has now been revealed. The gold, silver and bronze medals will all have a contemporary triangular prism which commemorates this competition as it is inspired by the emblem of the European Championships.

More than just sports, Glasgow is also transforming into a culture festival in celebration of the Championships.

Inviting performers in music, visual art, street art, digital art, dance, theatre and comedy to Glasgow, there is a programme filled with entertainment for the whole family in a fun, carnival atmosphere.
