Tutankhamun exhibition coming to the Saatchi Gallery

Dive inside the Tutankahmun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh exhibition as it prepares to open in London.

TUTANKHAMUN: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh presented by Viking Cruises is set to open at London’s Saatchi Gallery on 2 November 2019, now booking until 3 May 2020.

The exhibition marks the final opportunity to see the artefacts in person before they return to Egypt for good, and celebrates 100 years since the discovery of the Boy King’s tomb. Following the end of the exhibition in May 2020, the glittering world heritage objects will move to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Visitors to the London exhibition will first be able to view over 150 authentic pieces from the tomb, with 60 having ever before travelled outside of Egypt.

TUTANKHAMUN: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh takes in London as its third location of the worldwide tour, having wowed audiences Los Angeles and, more recently, Paris. Tutankhamun’s legacy has been celebrated throughout the decades in the UK with more than 1.6 million people attending the 1972 sow at the British Museum.

As the exhibition prepares to open in England’s capital, we sent reporter Toby to Paris to find out more about things to come. Watch what happened above.

Among the many artefacts in display, the current exhibition includes a gilded wooden naos containing the pedestal of a statue, a miniature canopic coffin, a wooden guardian statue of the King, a gilded wooden bed, and much more.
