The stunning exhibition of China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors will arrive at Liverpool’s World Museum on 9 February 2018. Fans will be able to see the figures until the end of October.

China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors offers visitors an unmissable opportunity to see some of the country’s finest national treasures. The landmark exhibition features more than 180 artefacts from museums across Shaanxi Province, over half of which have never been on show in the UK before.

Visitors will come face-to-face with the extraordinary Terracotta Warriors, including a life-size terracotta horse, as well as other exquisite objects from the First Emperor’s vast burial complex.

The exhibition sheds light on the formative years of the Chinese nation, from the bitter struggles of warring states in 8 Century BC to the rise of the Qin State and the unification of China in 221 BC, concluding with the peace and prosperity of the Han Dynasty almost 1,000 years later.

Dating from approximately the 3rd Century BC, the figures (also referred to as the Terracotta Army) were originally discovered in 1974.  Archaeologists working near Xi’an, the ancient capital of China, have uncovered three large pits of life-sized Terracotta Warriors over the last 40 years, each with their own individual clothing, hair and facial features, along with horses and war chariots.

As well as the Great Wall, they have since become iconic historical artefacts.

Fans can now get up close and personal with China’s history when the Terracotta Warriors arrive in Liverpool.

This exhibition is organised by National Museums Liverpool, United Kingdom and the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau and Shaanxi History Museum (Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Promotion Centre), People’s Republic of China. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
