Magic Mike Live is the good time you’ve been waiting for

Spend your festive season with Magic Mike Live – the perfect winter warmer for you and your friends on the naughty list

I had no idea what I was in for as I was making my way to the Hippodrome Casino Theatre but as a fan of girl’s nights, dance movies and Channing Tatum, I was extremely on board from the beginning.

If you’re looking for an evening that combines a charismatic host, raunchy audience participation, and a multi-talented cast of diverse performers, Magic Mike Live delivers all that and more in a 360-degree spectacle inspired by the hit movies. From start to finish, the show serves up a mix of high-energy, interactive entertainment that keeps the audience fully engaged for the full 1hr 30 – and if you’re lucky enough, you might even find yourself on stage.

The cast displays a wide range of talents, with sequences featuring everything from salsa dancing and tap dance to jaw-dropping acrobatics and, of course, lots of striptease. One minute, a performer is belting out a ballad or shredding a guitar solo; the next, there’s an electrifying group number that ramps the energy all the way up, with ropes coming down from the ceiling, or an indoor rain sequence that will leave you absolutely stunned. You’ll find dancers moving not only in front of you but above, behind, up on the balcony, and even on top of your table (a moment that found us dropping our drinks to spray pink unicorn dollars everywhere), creating a sense of excitement from every angle.

Another standout element is the show’s strong emphasis on consent and respect, woven into the storyline in a way that is fun yet clear. The scenes are as much about the audience’s comfort as they are about creating a memorable, pleasurable experience, with several bits reinforcing this approach, including a playful nod to the Village People and a surprise cameo from Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum.

The show’s soundtrack is on point too, from some surprise Ed Sheeran to a breathtaking duet set to Nick Jonas’ ‘Chains’, and what would the night be without that Ginuwine needle drop. Whether it’s a comedic bit with some roses, a steamy in-crowd lap dance, or just the group’s fantastic chemistry, Magic Mike Live is an exhilarating ride that has the crowd laughing, gasping, and wanting more.
