Win Butler and band stopped by to record two songs from WE and a storming cover of Harry Styles' As It Was
Everyone’s favourite Canadian indie rockers stopped by the BBC’s Maida Vale studios this week for a couple of sessions for 6 Music and BBC Radio 2. For the former, Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and co. played two songs from their recent album WE, an album that we recently declared to be very good indeed. Watch them play ‘Age Of Anxiety II’ here and ‘The Lightning I, II’ below.
More notably, the band also provided a cover of Harry Styles’ equally very good recent single ‘As It Was’ for BBC Radio 2. Arcade Fire do an excellent job of not only playing the song faithfully to Styles’ own version but also making it sound huge and dramatic, just like an Arcade Fire song. It’s also got two 12-string guitars, which is enough to recommend any song. Watch the video here.
Styles’ own latest record, Harry’s House, comes out next week. Watch out for our incoming review and catch him on tour in May and June. Arcade Fire have announced a huge UK tour for September with special guest Feist. Tickets go on sale Friday 13 May at 10:00.
