Teri Hatcher joins The Devil Wears Prada as the West End’s new Miranda Priestly

Hatcher returns to musical theatre for the West End hit as the production approaches its 800th performance

Runway has a new editor-in-chief. Teri Hatcher will take over as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada at London’s Dominion Theatre from 20 October 2026, succeeding fellow Desperate Housewives alum Vanessa Williams. Williams gives her final performance on 19 September, with Debbie Kurup playing Miranda until 17 October. Hatcher is currently scheduled to remain in the role through 6 February 2027.

It makes for a neat Wisteria Lane handover. Hatcher played Susan Mayer across all eight seasons of Desperate Housewives, earning the 2005 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Her screen CV also includes Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, whilst her stage work has included Sally Bowles in a touring production of Cabaret and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family

By Hatcher’s first performance, The Devil Wears Prada will have passed another sizeable marker. The musical reaches its 800th West End performance on 23 September, having sold more than 1.2 million tickets since opening at the Dominion in December 2024. That makes it the fastest-selling production in the theatre’s history.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 film, the musical follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs into the intimidating orbit of Runway editor Miranda Priestly. Elton John wrote the music, with lyrics from Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, a book by Kate Wetherhead and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. The current company includes Stevie Doc as Andy, Taila Halford as Emily and Matt Henry as Nigel.

Hatcher’s arrival gives the show another familiar face behind Miranda’s desk – and a fresh reason to head back to the Dominion.
