Simple Minds announce 2027 UK arena tour with Gary Numan and new album Sacrosanct

The Glasgow band return with seven arena dates, new single ‘Beginner Boys’ and their first studio album since 2022

Simple Minds are heading back to UK arenas in May 2027, bringing their V Tour to seven cities with Gary Numan as special guest. The run follows the release of Sacrosanct on 29 January – the band’s first studio album since 2022’s Direction Of The Heart.

First single ‘Beginner Boys’ arrives today, with Jim Kerr drawing its subject from watching his twin grandsons grow up and considering what it means to raise a good man amid mixed cultural signals. Across eight tracks, Sacrosanct also turns its attention to Kerr and Charlie Burchill’s friendship on ‘Our Secrets Are The Same’, a bond that began on a Glasgow street when the pair were eight years old.

The record took shape during a particularly busy stretch on the road. Simple Minds say their touring in 2025 reached more than 1.5 million people, with a North American run reconnecting Kerr and Burchill with the art-rock and new-wave charge of early material including ‘Sons And Fascination’, with that energy feeding directly into the new songs.

Before Sacrosanct lands, the band will headline BBC Radio 2 In The Park at Stirling’s City Park on 13 September – their only UK performance of 2026.
