Lizzo delights gym-goers with surprise pop-up performance
The hit-maker worked up a sweat while performing some of her biggest songs in New York this week
Lizzo is celebrating the release of her fourth studio album Special this week and with it, is doing all the usual press appearances to spread the word.
However, gym-goers in New York were certainly not expecting their class to be included but that’s exactly what happened when a lycra-clad Lizzo rocked up at Peloton’s NYC studio for a live performance of her new music.
As instructors Robin Arzón and Jess Sims introduced the Grammy Award-winner, riders looked on in disbelief at seeing the superstar in the flesh. As her hit tune ‘Good as Hell’ boomed from the speakers, attendees celebrated her arrival before Lizzo grabbed the mic and sang along to her hits old and new with the help of her Big Grrrls backup singers.
But it wasn’t just those in the studio who enjoyed the surprise performance. As Peloton classes are streamed to other customers, more and more Lizzo fans jumped on their bikes to take part until the entire platform crashed for hours.
Joking that they “broke the internet” after their class, Lizzo, Robin, and Jess all reassured fans that despite the technical difficulties, their special class would be available on demand afterward to Peloton customers.
The sing-along ride-along came just days after Lizzo dropped her new album Special which is already trending on TikTok as the hit-maker continues to churn out viral hit after viral hit.
