Kiri Pritchard-McLean asks her entire audience to donate advent calendars

The spirit of Christmas comes early to Manchester, thanks to Kiri Pritchard-McLean

Award-winning comedian, writer and director Kiri Pritchard-McLean is asking anyone who comes to her All Killa No Filla show in Manchester to turn up with a chocolate advent calendar. Hoping to get over 1000 donations at her Manchester Academy gig on 1st November, Pritchard-McLean will be sending all the calendars to a local foodbank, just in time for Christmas.

“Right Legends, we have a chance to make a massive difference here so I’m crossing everything that you have a couple of spare quid to help with this,” she wrote on her Instagram last week.

“I’d love a thousand kids in Manchester who might not have a chance to have an advent to get to open one this year.

“Bit of friendly advice to buy in advance cos when we do collections we tend to sell out all the shops around the venue on the day. B&M have calendars for under £2. They’re £1.50 in Asda.”

With the comments filling up with support (some from people who don’t even have tickets, still looking to donate), Pritchard-McLean’s idea might have started a new trend for all the dates on her tour. Previously donating a portion of her show profits to Welsh Women’s Aid, passing around a collection bucket for working class Fringe acts, and releasing an online special entirely in aid of the mental health charity, Pwrpas, Pritchard-McLean stands as one of the most inspirational figures in comedy.
