Here’s how to see Rachel Zegler perform in Evita for free

Your guide to catching Zegler’s balcony performances in London this summer

Jamie Lloyd’s experimental take on Evita has made a lot of headlines since the show opened in London. Whilst the decision to have star Rachel Zegler sing the show’s most famous song from the balcony of the Palladium each night wasn’t without controversy, it’s proved a fascinating choice, allowing crowds to gather on the street below the star and providing a ready-made chorus to cheer for her.

Evita will play at the London Palladium until 6 September, giving you plenty of chances to experience the spine-tingling moment for yourself. Here’s how to see Zegler sing ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ for free.

What time does Rachel Zegler perform on the balcony in Evita?

On Monday to Saturday evenings, with a break on Sundays, Rachel Zegler will appear on the balcony at around 9:05pm, although this differs slightly every night.

For matinee performances on Thursday and Sunday afternoons, she’ll appear at around 4pm, although again this can differ slightly.

Where do I go to see Rachel Zegler perform on the balcony in Evita?

You’ll need to stand outside the front of the London Palladium on Argyll Street. Barriers prevent viewers from getting too close, but there is still plenty of opportunity to get a good view of the moment.

How early should I arrive to see Rachel Zegler perform on the balcony in Evita?

Spots do fill up fast, and although many people have been able to wander up last minute and witness the moment, to get a good spot most agree that you need to be at least 20 minutes early. Those who want the best spots have on occasion been arriving at the start of the show and waiting around an hour and a half, but this isn’t necessary in order to see Zegler. However, it’s definitely true that an earlier arrival will secure you a better spot.

How many chances do I have to see Rachel Zegler perform on the balcony in Evita?

It’s definitely worth checking to see when Zegler’s understudy is on to avoid disappointment (although Bella Brown is fantastic in her own right). If you miss the show you were hoping to catch, or you don’t quite get down there fast enough to secure a good spot, don’t worry – Evita will play eight shows a week until 6 September.

If watching Zegler sing on the balcony makes you want to see the show in its entirety – and we suspect it might – then there’s still time to secure your tickets.
