Be a celebrity for the day at FAME*FACTORY

Who doesn't want to be famous? (Especially if you can go back to being not-famous straight afterwards...)

FAME*FACTORY, a new walk-through celebrity simulator, is set to land at Immerse LDN, ExCeL Waterfront next month, promising the kind of experience usually reserved for pop stars, footballers, and Hollywood players. Produced by Done + Dusted – the creative juggernaut responsible for staging everything from The Oscars to the London Olympics Opening Ceremony – it’s being billed as the first immersive experience to offer a full-throttle plunge into the mechanics of modern fame.

The premise is simple: you are the star. From the moment you arrive, a cast of actors playing agents, stylists, bodyguards and paparazzi shepherd you into your own “private jet” and set you loose on an itinerary of pure A-list fantasy. One moment you’re lip-synching to screaming fans; the next you’re batting away flashbulbs at a premiere or rehearsing a teary acceptance speech for your breakthrough award. There are TV interviews to breeze through, blockbuster sets to dominate, glossy photoshoots to fit in – the whole thing reads like a day in the life of Timothée Chalamet.

INTRODUCING | FAME FACTORY | London's newest immersive experience

Hamish Hamilton, co-founder of Done + Dusted and the show’s architect, knows this terrain better than most. A two-time BAFTA winner with directing credits on The BRIT Awards, MTV’s VMAs and Hollywood’s own ceremony season, Hamilton has long observed the choreography of fame from behind the camera. “Directing events like The Oscars, The BRITs and MTV’s VMAs has given me a red-carpet view of the crazy world around the famous,” he says. “So, one day, I decided to create a show that allowed everyone to experience the celebrity lifestyle.”

While immersive theatre has already tackled everything from haunted houses to high-end dining, FAME*FACTORY pushes into far glossier territory. It’s designed as both satire and celebration: a high-octane carousel of green rooms, gossip, stylists, champagne, and the occasional tabloid-worthy twist. Think Secret Cinema, but with more Versace and less flash mobs. The organisers promise an experience as suitable for an 8-year-old TikTok obsessive as it is for an 80-year-old who still remembers the golden age of stardom.

We all need a round of applause sometimes.
