Dolly Parton forms supergroup with four 80s pop icons

The superstar is uniting with four chart-topping women to record Diane Warren’s track ‘Gonna Be You’

Diane Warren revealed this week that she has pulled off the Avenger’s Endgame of 80s female pop, uniting Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle and Debbie Harry on a new track for the film 80 For Brady. ‘Gonna Be You’ celebrates friendship, according to Warren, and when it came to the matter of finding a voice for it she had a very specific vision.

“When I wrote ‘Gonna Be You’ for ’80 For Brady’, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship,” she said. “Since 80 was in the title I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!!

“Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honoured to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”

80s For Brady, directed by Kyle Marvin, will be released next month.
